What this site records

How visits are counted, how Google Analytics is handled, and where booking inquiries and messages go.

This page explains what steptownhotel.com records when you visit it and what happens to the details you send in a booking inquiry or a contact message. Last updated 27 October 2026.

Counting visits

The site keeps its own simple visit count. It sets no cookie and stores nothing on your device. For each page view it records the page, the website you came from, any campaign tags in the link you followed, whether your screen is small, medium or large, your country, and which booking steps were used (for example, a room added). It does not record form contents.

To tell visitors apart within a single day, it makes a short code from your IP address and browser details, mixed with a random value that is thrown away at the end of the day. The code cannot be turned back into your IP address, cannot be followed from one day to the next, and your IP address and browser details are not stored.

Google Analytics and Tag Manager

The site also uses Google Analytics 4 and Google Tag Manager to understand how it is used. Google handles that data under its own privacy policy.

If you are visiting from the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom or Switzerland, or your location cannot be determined, a banner asks first. Until you choose Accept, Google Analytics storage stays off; Decline keeps it off. Your choice is saved in a cookie called cc_cookie for about six months. From other countries, Google Analytics runs without a banner.

Fonts, scripts, reviews and the map

Pages load their fonts from Google Fonts and some page scripts from public content delivery networks (cdn.tailwindcss.com and unpkg.com). Your browser connects to those servers to fetch them, so they see your IP address as any web server would.

The Tripadvisor widgets on the home page (the rating and the recent reviews) load scripts from jscache.com and tripadvisor.com. Tripadvisor may set cookies and collect information about your visit, such as your IP address and browser, under its own privacy policy.

The map on the contact page uses Leaflet, one of the unpkg.com scripts above, and loads map images from OpenStreetMap’s tile servers, which receive your IP address. See the OpenStreetMap Foundation’s privacy policy.

Booking inquiries

When you send the booking form, the hotel receives your name, email address, phone number if you gave one, your dates, number of guests, the rooms you chose, any notes, and your airport transfer and flight details if you asked for a pick-up. The hotel uses them to answer your inquiry and to prepare your stay. The details are saved in the hotel’s booking records, a notification goes to the hotel by email, and an email goes to the address you gave.

Contact messages

When you send the contact form, the site stores your name, phone number, email address, message and preferred way to be replied to, and emails them to the hotel so it can reply. They are not sold or used for marketing.
